Q: How effective is LASER ACNE treatment?
I’ve tried many creams and over the counter products, I’ve gotten prescription cream from dermatologists, and I even used Proactiv Solution before (which didn’t work for me).
So, I’m looking into getting laser-acne treatment, which I’m hoping would be my last resort.
I have a mild case of acne on my face, nothing severe though.
So before getting laser acne treatment, could someone tell me if its effective at all? Like does it completely rid of the acne
after the procedure is done? How does it work and how much does it cost?
And please, no answers suggesting I use creams or creams they you know of that work.
I have been following this type of treatment for a LONG time now, and I am definitely gonna try laser treatment.
Also, I’m using laser treatment for my entire face.
A: The thing with laser treatment is that it gets rid of scarring, but in no way is it an actual treatment for the acne itself, meaning when the acne comes back you will have to do it again for future scarring. It’s a superficial treatment only. Most people who have this done do it after they have been able to get the acne under control and their skin to the best point they can first.
Cost varies greatly from place to place, so I would schedule a consult with someone in your area. Because insurance does not cover it, they will give you an estimate up front at your consult.
I have not had laser work for acne, but I am doing it for permanent hair removal. For my armpits, bikini area and full legs, it cost $300.00 per treatment for the first two times. I am told it will take 2 or more times, and the cost will go down as treatment time needed goes down, but there is already a huge difference in that the hair growth has slowed down tremendously. I know that tells you nothing really, but I am thinking that since you are only talking about your face, it would not cost that much.
Q: Well Since I’ve Been Getting Laser HAIR REMOVAL I’Ve Been Getting ACNE, IS THAT NORMAL?
WHAT CAN BE DONE TO HELP ME WITH MY ACNE AFTER LASER HAIR REMOVAL . I NEVER HAD ACNE BEFORE SO I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO CUZ IT’S MAKING ME VERY UNHAPPY AND I THINK I NEED TO GET A MICRODERMABRASION SERIES,. COULD THIS HELP ME PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND THE WAY THINGS WORK.
A: I believe that happens because of hairs growing under the skin, clogging pores and thus causing your breakouts. It is also possible that one of the lotions/creams used by the specialists performing the laser hair removal to cause you an allergic reaction. you should ask them…
on the other hand, microdermabrasion can help, but you have to wait at least a month after finishing your hair removal sessions. by removing the top layer of the skin, micro abrasion unclogges the pores and prevents more breakouts and pimples from appearing again. on the other hand, my exfoliating a thin layer of skin, microdermabrasion canhelp you get rid of all acne scars and blemishes. But remember to wait at least 4 weeks after laser to start a microdermabrasion treatment (professional OR at-home).
Hope this helps,
Joanna

I would like accurate and conclusive information from people who know or have experience pertaining to laser-acne treatment.
Also, I’m planning to use laser treatment for my entire face.
A: Hi, i had pretty bad acne on my back and i took prescription drugs, creams, vitiman tablets etc and nothing worked except the laser. It took a couple of sessions but it really worked. My back cost £200 a session but for the face it would probably about £100

Q: Does Pakistan offer laser scar removal surgery? How much does it cost if it does, and how effective is it?
I have several pockmarks, and some scars (including acne scars). I want to know how many sessions it will take to remove these blemishes, and the total cost. How effective is the treatment? Can my skin improve by atleast 50 percent? I’d like a 100 percent improvement, but I could settle for a 70. Where can I get before and after pictures of laser scar removal?
A: certainly they may have this facility. one sitting may cost 2000rupees.
Q: Has anyone had smoothbeam laser surgery for acne?
Has anyone ever gotten smoothbeam laser surgery for acne? If so how many treatments did you have to get? how was your skin before and after the treatments? In 2003 when I was 18 I was on accutane for 6 months, and seen no results. I’m currently using proactive, and It’s doing little to my skin. It seems like I tried all the creams, and antibiotics in the world. I’ve had plenty of dermatologist, and none could clear my skin. I’ve heard smoothbeam really works. Acne have always kept me down, and I feel like this is my last option to getting clear skin. I don’t even go out as much as I would like to. Now being 21 I think I should just except the fact that I have acne, since It do not look like It’s going to go away, but It’s going to be hard for me. I don’t know why, but girls seem to still like me. I have acne, acne scars, and oily skin. Any infomation would be great. Thank You
A: I actually just got the smoothbeam treatment and it worked pretty well. I just started going to the dermatologist in upstate new york, where i live, and they put me on Keflex(an oral antibiotic), gave me Clindamycin pads, Gylcolic Acid pads for many body, and just recently, RetinA cream. It all is starting to work, and my acne is really clearing up. I just had the smoothbeam laser thingy, and it was pretty painless. I saw some improvement from it a couple days after, and i still have a few more to go. The V-Beam laser thing isn’t approved by insurance, because its considered a “cosmetic” surgery, and i think im getting that done in late summer. I guess it gets rid of all the redness on my face. I suggest going to a better dermatologist, because I also struggle with acne. But now that I’m seeing a dermatologist, my skin is starting to clear. I heard accutane is really bad, because it dries out your whole body. OH, i forgot, i also use a soap that is fragrance-free,dye-free, and free of anything else but gentle cleanser. That’s what i use on my face when i wash it. When you go to a GOOD dermatologist, make sure you follow EVERYTHING they tell you, don’t skip anything. Make sure you speak up and say that NOTHING has worked and be honest about it. They’ll know what to do, because acne doesn’t last forever. What you may have are acne scars, according to my dermatologist, and they’ll stay red like that for a long time, unless you get some V-Beam treatments, which you should ask about. The only problem is that, although the Smoothbeam treatments are payed for by insurance, the V-Beam treatments are not. It’s going to cost me about $200 per session, and ill need 2 sessions. My dermatologist said that people usually see a 50-80 percent difference after the treatment, so it works really well.
I hope this all helps, just try and go find a good dermatologist!!
Q: Question about acne…?
First of all Hey everyone!
Okay I’m 18 yrs old i been having acne problem when i was 14 anyways my skin color is tanned naturally and i tried all these acne treatments for yrs and nothing happened my face is getting worser and now pimples are starting to appear on chest, shoulders, back like its horrible i have acne scars on my face its horrible. So i thought of doing the acne laser but before i was thinking alot about it and i have a bunch of questions…when you do the laser would your skin color change for a while and go back to its original color? Would pimples appear on my face after the treatment? i really need all the info about the laser i really need to know everything before i do anything… i searched on google but i didnt get what i wanted so if anyone could help… i really want to know about the skin color if it would change and go back to its original or not and if acne would come back… ???? and a bunch of other questions????????? please and Thank You!
A: hi
i heard microdermabration is good but this is only for extreme cases
apply ice to your face regularly it closes the pores so that would definitely reduce the acne breakout
check this site to find out how to get rid of pimples and its mark , it has good home remedies hope this helps
Q: Laser Acne treatment, should I? Should I not?
I did a search and I know of people have asked similar questions before, but still, I would like to get direct opinions.
I have been suffering from acne since I was 12, and until I was 16 the situation was not so unbearable, the pimples focus mainly on my forehead and chin before my monthly period, and they usually heal after my period.
However since I started working part time when I was 16, due to stress, and I started to get serious break outs on the other area of my face, and some of them are hard pimples that seems impossible to get away. Every spots that I get leaves deep red colour scaring and now no where in my skins is clear except my eye area.
Now I am 20, and the situation still continues, I believe my puberty has far gone and ruled out the cause of imbalance in hormones. During this time I have tried almost every product that I could get from the market, from creme de la mer, SK2..etc, nothing really works.
So I am considering laser treatment. Worth it? and How much?
btw, I am worry that I would be ashamed by my vanity when if I really go into a hospital and do my treatment.. people are going there to treat their skin cancer or something but I am here to cure my acne?…. this might sounds really stupid but my skin is giving me emotional distress and really lowered my confidence…
This is so contradiction anyway I am just moaning..
A: If it affects your confidence and quality of life go for it!
The doctors are used to people in your position, they deal with it every day!
But i reckon you could be looking at £1000 for the treament!
email a few of the clinics asking for price guides etc.
Q: Fraxel Laser Treatment? Acne Scar Removal…..??
have you or anyone you know had this procedure done? Were you/they satisfied with the outcome? what do you know about it and how much does it usually cost. Before and after pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..
A: I’m going to get it done! My doctor told me all her patients who have had it done have had good results with the exception of one girl who had really horrible cystic acne. I live in AZ and the place I might go to charges $400 for a 4 week treatment twice a week. I called around town to find prices and info. Look in your phone book or go to yellow pages online.
Q: What can I do about my acne caused by laser hair removal?
I tried laser hair removal for the first time last year in August, and the 1st session went well. About 4 weeks after my second session, I started having breakouts. I have acne prone skin, but I hadn’t had severe break outs in a long in a long time. At the time, I just thought it was my normal acne problem, starting up again. I took a break from my laser hair removal in the meantime. I noticed that the acne was different from my usual acne. This was more deep and red, and it hurt. I also started having acne on my neck which I never had in the past. I suspected it was the laser hair removal. I started taking antibiotics, and my Doctor had me take them for a couple of months. The antibiotics helped, but led to another problem. My skin started to become very dry, and I had dry bumps, and rashes on my face, and it looked horrible. make up couldn’t cover it, it made it more obvious. I also had discoloration on my lips because of the antibiotics. I stopped the antibiotics, and the dry skin went right away. My breakouts started back again, but this time it was much less. So, I started the laser treatments again. And once again, after the 2nd session, my acne breakouts started, and this time it is horrible. I don’t feel like going out. It looks really bad, and it all over my jaw and cheeks where I had the treatment. I am very sad about this, and I need a solution. I also need to get rid of the facial hair because my hair is long and dark and that is embarassing as well. I’ve tried all other types of hair removal… waxing, threading, tweezing. All of these made me breakout in the past. So, I even tried shaving, but the hair grew so thick, even in places where it wasn’t thick before. So, I’m confused about what to do. Please, if anyone has a solution, for both problems, let me know. I feel like I’ve been doing everything. It is affecting me at work too. I follow a proper diet, and drink lots of water. Please help ! I appreciate any ideas. Thank you.
A: Hello! I feel for you as i once and still do a bit suffer from acne. Check out my site for some tips on acne and how to prevent it http://www.myhealthmatters.info
Also have you looked at your diet? Oily foods etc are exceptionally bad!
Q: I had laser treatment done yesterday for acne ? But i see no change on my face?
will it take a few days to clear? also i am still getting new pimples after the treatment yesterday…….does one have to undergo 3-4 sittings before any change.does than mean not even little change is visible after the first treatment
A: you may have lost your money my man
Q: does differin cure bad acne scars?
ive been using accutane for almost 3 monthes (2more days and done), and today i went to see dermataligist, and he told me to try differin cream after accutane is over.
although my acne is gone, i have such a bad acne scars left. its so red and just so annoying. Doc suggested me to take laser surgery or else it’ll take few years for scars to disappear. but laser surgery is pretty damn expensive.
i’m just wondering if differin cure acne scars, if anyone has used it before?
or, what other products are there ?
A: Differin will make the redness less noticeable, nothing is going to get rid of scars all together, other than surgery.
Q: I wanna get the smooth beam laser treatment but im scared?
i just wanna get the smooth beam laser treatment for minor acne marks and a few pimples but im scared at the fact that people have gotten that treatment and there acne got worser than what is was my acne isnt that bad whats so ever but i still what that smooth clear skin with no imperfections if you have gotten that treatment before tell me did it help yours skin or make it worser and if you have any pics of your skin after getting that smooth beam laser treatement please email them to datrillestofdatrillest@yahoo.c…
A: If the acne got worse, its due to heredity not the laser treatmnet. It may take a few sessions f it to work. Make sure you are using good facial cleansers with lotion in them like cetaphil and lotions with spf in them.
Q: Dermabrasion for Acne, Dr. John Yarborough of NOLA?
I am considering dermabrasion for my acne scars. I do not have ice pick scars, so to say, but more of deep, rolling crater like scars along my cheeks. Here’s a little about my history:
-Antibiotics throughout high school for acne/Benzaclin and retina A topical treatments
-03-04 Smooth Beam to help prevent breakouts
-After the smooth beam my acne became nodular and cyste like.
-Went on accutane once all options failed.
-Accutane cleared my nodular acne, but because of my cronic ‘picking’ and my skin being more prone to scars, my cheeks were left with craters =(
-A year after the Accutane (05-06) I began microdermabrasion periodically and Fraxel 1540 laser treatment.
-The microdermabrasion did not improve my scars, but helped with redness and just made my skin feel soft. The Fraxel did help with surface scars, but now a year later (07-08) and after normal breakouts, it seems my skin had degressed- not nearly as bad as before, but not as smooth as it was following the laser.
I am now considering surgical dermatology, probably subcision technique or even more so, dermabrasion. I am 24 years old, still have acne (normal surface acne, a few small pimples here and there). I want to have the surgery, but read where active acne cannot be present. Well…I’ve had acne since I was 12. Its been 12 years, still no change. I don’t want to go through my 20’s and 30’s waiting for it to stop so I can get rid of my scars. Is it ok to have a few breakouts and still undergo Dermabrasion?
Even more importantly, I am looking for personal experiences with Dr. John M. Yarborough of new orleans. found only positive things about him so far, and I am about 45 minutes from New Orleans so it would be awesome to use him!
I dont mean to be rude, but please DONT offer me alternative solutions to my scarring. Believe me, I’ve tried it all. No topical solution works for my acne, and I am tired of expensive lasers that do not work for me.
I am treating my SCARS not ACNE. Please, as I already asked, don’t offer your advice for acne treatment. I’m looking for personal accounts or information on surgical treatment for SCARS, I.E. Dermabrasion.
A: What the skin needs is a treatment that clears pores and kills bacteria, thus preventing hair follicles from clogging and turning into acne. This is what you should be looking for if you want to get rid of those ugly acne.
Before trying any treatment, I suggest you read this informational source that listed the most effective acne treatments available:

P.S. I also know someone who used to suffer from severe acne for 14 YEARS and finally got rid of it completely. She’s sharing her story at her site:

Maybe you could learn from her inspirational story

Q: Whiten skin possible? scaring too..desperately need help?
1.Is it possible to fade all the abundant scars on face and body caused by acne?Any advice? Laser is useful?
2. My body is so white, but my arms are so dark…very dark..can I bleach it to be perfectly white as my body? laser helps? any advice?
3. My face before was so white but after I have acne, it becomes red and darker so that Can I make perfectly white and perfectly smooth as before? I don’t care how much money to spend on it , please give advice
I am Asian so that I dont want tan on my body lol
A: 1. I’m not sure about the scars. Call your local dermatologist and ask about that.
2. Why not try to tan your body. Why bleach and harm your skin and just start tanning. Don’t go overboard at first though.
3. Again contact a dermatologist. Just call them. Find one that gives a free initial consulation or something.
